Fordyce Mitchel Memorial Lecture Series

Thanks to the generous endowment established by Mrs Marguerite Mitchel, widow of former Greek history professor Fordyce W. Mitchel, every two years an established scholar in the field of Greek history is invited to spend 1-2 weeks as a guest of the History department. He/she will give a series of original lectures on a particular topic, a public lecture, and meet with graduate students informally to discuss their work and other items of common interest. The Mitchel lectures are revised by the speaker and published by the University of Missouri Press as an original and scholarly contribution to the field of study.
