Areas of Interest

I owe my interest and pursuit of philosophy to the works of Bertrand Russell. Additionally, his writings launched my interest of different religious systems and provided my fledgling religious and philosophical beliefs with a bit of backbone.

Logic

My interest in mathematics and computer science naturally lead me into the study of logic. After doing my senior paper on game theory, I knew I wanted to pursue decision theory in graduate school. Assistant teaching Mathematical Logic during my first semester of graduate study only furthered my interest in the area.

Ethics

My interest in ethics is selfishly-motivated. As I continue to search for a religious or spiritual system, I search for an ethical framework that is as sound and impartial as possible. I am drawn towards rights. However, my increasing distrust of intuitions as being impartial is leading me towards act utilitarianism.

Also, I have a budding interest in Philosophy of Religion, Philosophy of Science and Social and Political Philosophy. I look forward to taking courses in these areas to see if my interest grows.
