Mizzou Botanic Garden has joined the Missouri Botanical Garden's Center for Home Gardening by bringing to your attention a large selection of plants considered worthy of planting, yet underutilized in the home landscape. Known as Plants of Merit, these plants are marked by signs like the one at the right. They have been selected because of their consistently high performance in the areas of:
- pest resistance
- growth characteristics
- adaptability to a variety of growing conditions
- ease of maintenance
Professional horticulturists are continually evaluating new plants and adding to the list each year. By displaying and labeling the Plants of Merit, we hope to increase their appreciation and use in the mid-Missouri home landscape.
