Traditional academic regalia is worn by participating
faculty and students in all commencement ceremonies at the University
of Missouri-Columbia. The type of dress originated in the 12th century,
and standard codes of dress were adopted by American institutions

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Commons. Bachelor keepsake sets (cap, gown and tassel) are available
until graduation. Contact the University
Bookstore for current prices.
When ordering the regalia, BE SURE TO
inform the Bookstore that you are an undergraduate student.
There are different kinds of caps and gowns for
each level of degree. See the history

GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL
STUDENTS
Rent or purchase regalia (cap, gown and tassel)

Master's keepsake regalia (cap, gown and tassel)
is available for purchase from the bookstore. Contact the University
Bookstore for current prices.
Doctoral regalia (cap, gown and tassel) is
available for rental. Contact the University
Bookstore for current price information. The deadline to rent
doctoral regalia is approximately 1.5 months in advance of graduation.
Doctoral hoods can be purchased from the University Bookstore
if you are participating in this event.
