Environmental Courses at MU

Courses related to the environment are taught by more than a hundred faculty members in 40 different departments across the campus. The objective of this list is to develop awareness of these academic opportunities and resources among students and advisors.

Most introductory, 1000, and 2000-level courses are suitable for students from a variety of fields with an interest in the environment. Students must be careful in their course selection, and should refer to the most recent Undergraduate Catalog for course descriptions and prerequisites. 3000 level courses are often designed for majors in the subject area, but many may be appropriate for advanced students from other disciplines. Be sure to check the prerequisites and talk with the instructor if in doubt about your preparation for a particular course. Courses at the 4000 level are normally restricted to graduate students, and are not included in this list.

This list has been prepared by Environmental Studies, primarily on the basis of course descriptions in the undergraduate catalog. It is not a complete list of courses with environmental content, and content can vary with instructor.

To make additions or corrections to the list, please contact Jan Weaver, 882-7116.

ABBREVIATIONS: WI - writing intensive; MRP - math reasoning proficiency;

For an Emphasis Area:

Set up an appointment with Dr. Weaver 573-882-3037; envstudy@missouri.edu; 208 Tucker Hall - Mon-Thu 9-11 am) as soon as possible.

Because the program is interdisciplinary, many of the general education courses you are required to take also have to serve as prerequisites for upper level courses.

This involves quite a bit of planning.

Don't put it off!
