download them to your computer.
Please note! - To save these files to your computer,
you'll need to click/hold on the hyperlink (right button
click/hold on a Windows machine). That will bring up a pop-up
menu where you can choose to "save/download the link/target to
disk." (If you were to just click on the link, you would only
see a bunch of garbage in your browser window.) Then, to view
the saved file, you need Microsoft Excel. If you don't have the
software, you should search the Web site of the vendor to see
if a demo version is available.

- Description: JWalk and Associates maintains this Web
site, which professes to provide a central source for
information about spreadsheets of all types. It includes a lot
of helpful tips and links to many other Web sites that have
spreadsheet info (organized by product).

- Description: This great site describes "WebQuest"--
"an inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the
information used by learners is drawn from the Web. WebQuests
are "designed to use learners' time well, to focus on using
information rather than looking for it, and to support
learners' thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis, and
evaluation" and can make use of many different tools including
databases, spreadsheets, microworlds, and others. Check out the
"overview" page for more information about the WebQuest model,
and the "example" link for many examples of projects already
developed.

- Description: This site is an interesting on-line
weather unit in which middle school students use current
weather data to answer questions and draw conclusions about
today's weather. The students construct spreadsheets to
organize and analyze their data.

- Description: This award winning Internet-based unit
has students examining completed spreadsheets to analyze the
experience of Irish immigrants to Boston in 1840 and the
immigrant experience today. Final projects for the unit can
take many forms, ranging from charts and graphs to drama or
musical numbers.

- Description: This site describes a lesson created
for secondary algebra students which uses an Excel spreadsheet.
The problem is to find the maximum number of cars passing a
point in a given amount of time. The teachers found that "Excel
proved to be extremely beneficial in efficiently solving this
traffic problem... Having all the data in the spreadsheet form
makes it easy to understand and convenient to display the
results graphically."

school students. Using Excel, students analyze data on scores and teams
from NCAA Basketball Championship Games. The students answer questions,
