Write a brief paper (3 to 5 pages) analyzing something in your own life using sociology. Use at least one theoretical perspective from sociology and use at least ten sociological concepts. This can be any sociological topic of interest to you. Be sure to use the theory and concepts in a manner that makes it clear you understand them.
The paper MUST be written on a word processor. It must use references both from the library and from the world-wide-web.
These short papers must be turned in before the end of class April
26.
NOTE: FOR STUDENTS WHO RECEIVED A GRADE OF A ON THE FIRST TEST
If you received a grade of A on the first test based on the curve, then you have the OPTION of writing a longer and more in-depth paper instead of taking the second two tests. You do not have to do this. If you prefer, you can take the tests and write a short paper like everyone else.
The longer paper should be at least 12 pages long. It should analyze a topic in some depth using one or more theories from sociology along with concepts and social facts. The paper should refer to several library references including at least two sociological books and five or more sociological journal articles. (You may find good ideas for books from related sections in the textbook.) You should also incorporate into the paper five or more references from the world-wide-web that are relevant to your paper. The paper MUST be written on a word processor. It must use references both from the library and from the world-wide-web.
The longer research papers must be turned in before the end of class on May 10.
