Professor H.R. Chandrasekhar, "Chandra," received a B.Sc. degree from Bangalore University, India in 1966, an M.Sc from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India in 1968, and a Ph.D. in Physics from Purdue University, Lafayette, IN in 1973. After a post-doctoral fellowships at Purdue University and the Max-Planck-Institute für Festkörperforschung, Stuttgart, Germany, he joined the faculty of the Physics Department at the University of Missouri, Columbia MO in 1978. He is currently Professor of Physics, Department Chair and Director of Graduate Studies. He is an Alfted P. Sloan Fellow and a past consultant to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) under the TOKTEN project..
