Portrait of Chad Burton

Chad Burton received his Ph.D. in social / personality psychology from the University of Missouri in 2008 under the supervision of Dr. Laura King. He has conducted research on emotional expression and health, the influence of mood and personality on nonrational beliefs, goal pursuit, and the use of stereotypes in person perception. Chad is currently interested in continuing to uncover the health benefits of written emotional expression and testing the boundaries of such an intervention. Additionally, Chad is interested in the differential impact of intuitive and rational information processing on task perseverance, performance, goal pursuit and, furthermore, how individual differences in intuition influence negative health behaviors such as alcohol and marijuana use.
