Organized 3 April 1886 in the Missouri National guard as the 3d regiment and organized at Kansas City from new and existing units (less Company F at Independence)

Mustered into Federal service 14 May 1898 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, as the 3d Missouri Volunteer Infantry; mustered out of Federal service 7 November 1898 at Kansas City, and reverted to state control as the 3d Infantry

Disbanded 14 September 1899 at Kansas City

Reconstituted 6 November 1899 in the Missouri National Guard as the 3d Infantry and organized with Headquarters at Kansas City

Called into Federal service 18 June 1916 for service on the Mexican border

Mustered into Federal service 25 June - 7 July 1916 at Nevada, Missouri; mustered out of Federal service 26 September 1916 at Nevada, Missouri

Called into Federal service 25 march 1917; mustered into Federal service 26 March 1917 at Nevada, Missouri

Drafted into Federal service 5 August 1917

Consolidated 1 October 1917 with the 6th Infantry; (organized 19 July 1898); consolidated unit reorganized and redesignated as the 140th Infantry and assigned to the 35th Division

Demobilized 12-13 May 1919 at Fort Riley, Kansas

Former 3d Infantry consolidated 6 August 1920 with the 7th Infantry (see ANNEX 1) and consolidated unit designated as the 3d Infantry with Headquarters at Kansas City (former 6th Infantry, Missouri National Guard - hereafter separate lineage)

Converted and redesignated 1 May 1921 as the 3d Combat Engineers

Headquarters Federally recognized 19 May 1921 at Kansas City

Redesignated 1 October 1921 as the 110th Engineers and assigned to the 35th Division

Consolidated 2 July 1923 with the 110th Engineers (less 2d Battalion) (see ANNEX 2) and consolidated unit designated as the 110th Engineers

Inducted into Federal service 23 December 1940 at Kansas City

Regiment broken up 1 March 1942 and its elements reorganized and redesignated as follows

Regiment (less 2d Battalion) as the 110th Engineer Battalion, an element of the 35th Infantry Division

2d Battalion as the 2d Battalion, 132d Engineers, and relieved from assignment to the 35th Division

After 1 March 1942, the above units underwent changes as follows:

110th Engineer Battalion reorganized and redesignated 1 July 1942 as the 110th Engineer Combat Battalion

Relieved 27 January 1943 from assignment to the 35th Infantry Division

Inactivated 31 January 1946 in Korea

2d Battalion, 132d Engineers, redesignated 1 August 1942 as 2d Battalion, 132d Engineer Combat Regiment

Reorganized and redesignated 22 April 1943 as the 242d Engineer Combat Battalion

Inactivated 31 January 1946 in Japan

110th and 242 Engineer Combat Battalions consolidated, reorganized, and Federally recognized 28 October 1946 as the 110th Engineer Combat Battalion with Headquarters at Kansas City

Redesignated 1 February 1953 as the 110th Engineer Battalion

Relieved 1 April 1963 from assignment to the 35th Infantry Division

ANNEX 1

Organized in 1917 in the Missouri Home Guard as the 2d Infantry with Headquarters in Kansas City

Reorganized and redesignated in April 1918 as the 7th Infantry

Federally recognized 14 may 1918 as the 7th Infantry

Organized 28 July - 4 August 1917 in the Missouri National Guard at Kansas City as the 1st Engineer Battalion

Drafted into Federal Service 5 August 1917
