Dr. Baolin Deng is currently associate professor in Environmental Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He obtained his Ph.D. in the Environmental Engineering and Chemistry Program from the Johns Hopkins University in 1996. Prior to his current position, he did a year of postdoctoral research as a NRC research associate at the Air Force Research Laboratory and taught at New Mexico Tech as an assistant and associate professor for a total of five years.
Deng's research concerns with contamination site remediation, drinking water treatment, and chemical and biological transformation of contaminants in aquatic systems. He is the principal investigator of a number of research projects, supported by agencies including Department of Energy and National Science Foundation.
Deng has served in proposal review panels for US Department of Energy, Department of Defense, and National Science Foundation, and has been a frequent reviewer for journals Environmental Science and Technology, Journal of Environmental Engineering; Journal of Physical Chemistry, Chemistry of Materials, Waste Management, Air and Waste Management, Soil and Sediment Contamination, J. Chem. Technol. & Biotech, and Chemosphere. Deng teaches several undergraduate and graduate courses, including Introduction to Environmental Science and Engineering, Water Treatment Process Design, Water and Wastewater Laboratory, Advanced Water Chemistry, Physicochemical and Biological Processes, Hazardous Waste Management, and Environmental Chemical Kinetics. |
