Some Comments on the Work of FACSS Committee

(February 19th, 2001)

The 2000-2001 FACSS committee has made valuable explorations on the types of activities to be organized and conducted while keeping the traditional types. With the continuation of participating in the activities like the International Fashion Show, the International Night, the International Bazaar, holding the celebrations of the Chinese Mid-autumn Festival, the New Year, and the Spring Festival as well as all the other activities, the current FACSS committee has courageously and creatively contributed to the construction of the Chinese community in Columbia in some essential and important aspects. For example, the committee has held Today’s China Exposition, Chinese Culture Exposition, which have been very influential in Columbia.

One of the things that we have learned from the holding of these activities is that in our community we have quite a lot of people, especially the FACSS committee members and those ardent supporters, who have the devotion of love and the feeling of responsibility to the construction of this community. With these activities being held, we Chinese students and scholars have contributed greatly to the cultural diversity of University of Missouri and have won back the respect from Americans and people of other nationalities in Columbia and. These are the goals that we have been seeking and the achievements of these goals are essential for us to have a meaningful life in this town and this country.

Another thing that we have learned and we can treasure is that the committee has contributed to the building of the foundation for the further construction of this community. Just give a look at the work plan of the present FACSS committee, we would find that that is a list of colorful, energetic, and appropriate activities which consist of enormous amount of wisdom and capabilities contributed by so many warm-hearted people. We believe that these activities and the experiences accumulated through these activities will help greatly the future FACSS committees to do even better jobs. Certainly it is the most sincere wish from the people who have contributed to this cause of construction that the accumulation of these marvelous experiences will go on and on.

The consultant committee believes that the current FACSS committee has made great effort to serve the Chinese students and scholars in Columbia. The president and other committee members deserve the respect and gratitude from this community.
