FACSS Funding Rules

Purpose:

One of FACSS committee's goals is to encourage, support, facilitate and organize FACSS members' activities. The funding rules are created to help achieve this goal. Funding request forms are created to simplify the application process and can be printed out from the FACSS web site (http://web.missouri.edu/~facss).

Funding Rules:

Activities organized by non-committee members may be funded upon application. The activities include
(1) sport activities;
(2) entertainment activities;
(3) special activities.
Funds would be provided to help meet the basic needs for completing the intended event upon approval. FACSS property is available to support the activities upon request. If the event is funded, the name list of participants must be made public after completion of the event. The funding rules are applied to FACSS members for two types of activities: Grand Events and Group Activities.

1. Grand events

Four major criteria will be considered for qualification of being funded:
(1) The nature of the event;
(2) The estimated number of participants (individuals or teams);
(3) The estimated cost of organizing the event;
(4) The way to spend the money awarded.

The organizer or the organizing committee is encouraged to invite individuals or teams from other associations, especially associations with Chinese connection, to participate. Application should be at least one month prior to the intended event.

2. Group Activities (Club activities)

Five major criteria will be considered for qualification of being funded:
(1) The nature of the event;
(2) The estimated number of participants (individuals or teams);
(3) The times of the funded activities;
(4) The estimated cost of organizing the event;
(5) The way to spend the money awarded.

The organizer of the group activity is encouraged to invite the individuals or teams from other associations, especially associations with Chinese connection, to participate. Application should be handed in half a month before FACSS committee makes decision on replication.

3. Service Award

Service Award will be given to the person who organized the activity best and contributed most to the FACSS activity. Two tracks are designed to realize this application:
(1) Application with at least three recommendations;
(2) Nomination by a FACSS member with at least three recommendations.
FACSS committee members are encouraged to participate in organizing any of these events but will mandantorily be prohibited from receiving this award during his or her term of service. Deadline for application or nomination is August 1st, 2001.
