Group Dynamics Report
"Covalent Bonding"

For our group, we usually met as subgroups rather than our group
as a whole. We think our group was a little big, and it seemed that we
learned more with just a few people meeting at a time. We usually met
about once a week, but meet more often in the days before a test. Our
subgroups usually met at the library or at Memorial Union. Basically,
what we did was go through the class notes, and then make notes of our
own to emphasize areas that we weren't as familiar with. We didn't work
many problems together, but sometimes answered questions about them if
anyone had any. We would print off some of the online materials and
discuss them together. The part we enjoyed most was that you always had
someone there that can help you if you need it, and you didn't have to
work through all difficult material by yourself. One problem was that
our group was a bit large, but we worked through that by using
subgroups. We feel that the collaboration is best because it cuts down
on all the competition which makes it easier to work together with other
students. Overall, we think that we made a connection between Chemistry
and Real Life, and the "Chemistry in the News" items really helped.
