                        1. Topic Selection:  20
The topic selected, heterocyclics in coffee, is very interesting, and it applies to many people in the classroom; it was very informative and it had several strong relationships to chemistry.

        (2) Newspaper and Article Selection: 9 Points (0-10)
                        2. Newspaper and Article Selection:  9
THe author, a researcher at the University of CA, seems very qualified to write on the subject, the article was pretty interesting and not too long, and the publisher seems to be credible.  I took off one point because the article is from 2 years ago--recent, but not within the past year.

        (3) Quality of the Editorial Comments: 10 Points (0-10)
                        3. Quality of the Editorial Comments:  10

        (5) Selection and Quality of the Links: 19 Points (0-20)
                        5. Selection and Quality of the Links: 19
The links were very informative, relevant and placed well in the editorial comments.  I learned a few things from these links and it was very clear why they chose thier particular links.  I took one point off because one of the links needs particular software to be downloaded--I could not access it off of this computer.  All links should have been accessable by any PC.

Evaluation by Group 20
  (1) Topic Selection: 18 Points (0-20)
As stated in the article, over 23 million gallons of coffee are consumed by US citizens each year.  Obviously this is a beverage that is enjoyed by  LARGE population of individuals.  If there are health benefits, or risks, it affects not only those who drink coffee but the friends and family also.  Also, the topic is directly related to organic chemistry because it is due to specific chemical reactions within the body that the benefits are obtained.

        (2) Newspaper and Article Selection: 9 Points (0-10)
The article was great, just the right length and very easy to understand.  If it had been less than a year old we probably would have given full points.

        (3) Quality of the Editorial Comments: 9 Points (0-10)
The editorial comments were good.  THey explained briefly the process of the reaction which helped later when looking at the links.  They also explained why and how the topic was related to organic chemistry.

        (4) Organic Chemistry Content: 9 Points (0-10)
The chapters given were right on target and helped understanding the links.  They did a good job at explaining the links in the answers to the questions also.  These two together made the chemical points very clear.

        (5) Selection and Quality of the Links: 18 Points (0-20)
These links were great.  Each and every one was helpful in undestanding heterocylic compunds and how they were beneficial to health.  They were organized within the comments and questions in a very logical manner.  Great job!

        (6) Format, Number and Types of Questions: 9 Points (0-10)
These questions were great. They were all pertinent to the article, yet they didn't get repetitious like some groups did. They were very direct and there was no questions as to why a particular question was asked.  And the final question was great!

        (7) Quality of the Questions: 10 Points (0-10)
                        Yes!  See comments above.

        (8) Overall Impression. 9 Points (0-10)
This could defintitely be a potential publication item.

This was great, We can tell a lot of time and energy was put into this.  Great job Operation Organic!
