The average is 66 and acceptable. This test was the first examination
that required extensive knowledge in synthesis and getting into reaction
chemistry always is hard at first. There is so much to know and it takes
time and lots of exercise to master the craft!

While this exam resulted in the lowest average for this class as yet, I
want you to keep this outcome in perspective. This test traditionally is
"the killer" and a score of 66 actually is not too bad. Previous courses
were 10-15 points lower. You will get better at learning reaction
chemistry; it just takes a while to get used to this kind of thinking.

The data in the last column "SUM" provides the class average for the
course overall to date. We are in the B- range.

Best, RG.
