Jens J. Wolff
Crystal Packing and Molecular Geometry
Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. Engl., 1996, 35, 2195.

Despite recent progress, true crystal engineering remains an elusive goal. Subtle differences in energy, as in the rotamers in 1, may cause great differences in solid-state structures, and the influence of a crystalline environment on molecular parameters is even less well understood. Successes and problems in the studies of the structures of molecular crystals are discussed.
