Brief Description of the Course

 

Rural Sociology 1000

 Introduction to Rural Sociology

 

(3 Credit Hours)

 

     This course is designed to provide the student with a working knowledge of basic sociological concepts and how they are applied to understand the process of social change. Course material introduces students to the interconnections and interdependence between rural/urban and local/global economies and cultures.

 

     The course focuses on the United States in a global context.  Students taking Rural Sociology 1000 are exposed to the rich diversity in rural society, changes underway in rural places, and to current social issues and problems.
