After a nearly decade long career in newspapers, I returned to graduate school at the University of Missouri in 2004. I'm about a year, a set of comps, and a dissertation away from my Ph.D. By August of 2009, I hope I'll be teaching new media theory and practice, while researching what motivates people to contribute online and how the media can capitalize on these motivations to forge lasting connections with audiences, at a major university.
