I would strongly recommend to form a study group and get a copy of another engineering statistics book,
Modern Engineering Statistics by T. Ryan
so that you could supplement your main reading with alternative explanations.

Typos found in the book:
- Somewhat below the middle of p. 7, towards the end of the discussion of
Example 1.2.2: when they say "The event that `the primary
system or the first backup is operable but the second backup is inoperable'
is given by
", the latter expression should be
, as it is done properly in the next display formula. (If you see garbage
instead of some set unions and intersections,
your browser does not support MathML.
Consider upgrading or replacing it).
