Research

Our work focuses primarily on those cyclones, and the features therein, that are responsible for generating excessive rainfall or snowfall.  Over the last 10 years, the Mesoscale Dynamics Group has participated in Research on Convective Snows, Profiling of Winter Storms, among others.  Our current emphasis is on elevated convection events that produce heavy snow and rain.

A great deal of our data storage facilities and analysis software reside in the Weather Analysis and Visualization (WAV) Laboratory.  Large equipment is housed at the Atmospheric and Climate Experiment Station (ACES) at the University of Missouri’s South Farm.
