Gauri Somnath is a star shaped temple which contains a giant six foot Shivalinga, made of smooth black stone. Outside a sitting Nandi (sacred bull) of simular stone resides. Legend says when Emperor Aurangazeb gazed into the linga and saw himself as a pig in his next life, he burnt the lingam in his rage. The open air museum displays various sculptures found at this temple site during the archaeologist restoration being done.
