Dr. C.
Zoe Smith has been a member of the Missouri School of Journalism faculty
since
1991. She was the O. O. McIntyre Professor for 2000-2001.
From 1998-2000, she was head of the Photojournalism sequence. From
1992-1998
she was
chairwoman
of the School's Editorial Department while teaching courses in media
history and photojournalism. From 1981 to 1991 she was on the journalism
faculty
at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she taught courses
in editing, layout/design, and photojournalism. Smith also taught
photography,
news editing, and news writing/reporting at the University of Tulsa in
Oklahoma and a beginning photography course the University of Iowa.
Her professional experience includes writing and reporting for two
Pennsylvania newspapers --The Pittsburgh Press and The Valley
News Dispatch in Tarentum -- and reporting and photographing for one
West Virgina newspaper --The Dominion-Post in Morgantown.
Smith has an MA and PhD in mass communication from the University of Iowa and a BS in journalism from West Virgina University.
