Psych 170 Child Psychology 3
credit hours (undergraduate)
The primary objectives of this course are
to introduce students to the field of developmental psychology and to
give students a basic understanding of child development from conception
through adolescence. This course emphasizes normal physical, cognitive,
emotional, and social development. An additional objective is to familiarize
students with current research and methodology in child psychology. Materials

Psych 301 Developmental Psychology
Laboratory 3 credit hours (undergraduate)
The primary
objective of this course is to introduce students to the research methods
used to study development. This objective will be accomplished through
readings regarding developmental methods, readings of primary sources
that incorporate developmental methods, and conducting and reporting original

Psych 457 Social and Emotional
Development 3 credit hours (graduate)
There are two major objectives for this
course. The first is a content objective and involves familiarizing
students with theory and research regarding social, emotional, and personality
development in childhood and adolescence and also regarding the relationships
in which such development takes place. The second objective is a process
objective and involves enhancing students skills at interpreting empirical
research, identifying gaps in the literature, and identifying research
strategies for addressing those gaps.
