ARC WELDING

Problem:

Perform a "T" weld in the flat position keeping distortion to a minimum.

Materials:
 1. 2 - ¼" x 2" x 4" metal plates.
 2. Appropriate electrode selected from those in the welding booth.
 3. 1 - Brick to rest metal against.

Directions:
 1. Prepare the metal; grinding, cleaning, etc.
 2. Secure the metal.
 3. Select electrode from those in welding booth and set welder amperage.
 4. Record the type of rod and welder amperage which you use on page 2.
 5. Position metal as shown.
 6. Tack as needed.
 7. Perform weld, welding on one side only.
 8. Hand your weld to the contest official.  He will cool your metal.
 9. Put contestant number on the back side of the welded plates and on this sheet.
 10. Turn in work and this sheet. Be sure to include your name, your contestant number, your chapter, the welder amperage which you used, and the rod number which you used.
