OXYACETYLENE WELDING

Project: Demonstrate your ability to use the oxy-acetylene welder and the proper tools.

SKILL: To join two dissimilar metals.

Position: Horizontal

Material: One piece of 1/16" * 2" * 3" mild steel
One piece of 1/16" * 2" * 3" stainless steel
1/8" flux coated brazing rod

Procedures:

1. Secure metal plates.
2. Adjust the torch flame properly.
3. Position metal for a horizontal butt weld.
4. Prepare metal for welding, then tack weld at each end.
5. Braze weld the stainless and mild steel plates together.
6. Put oxy-acetylene equipment away properly.
7. Cool metal thoroughly.
8. Put contestant number on the back sides of both metal plates.
9. Submit your work and this sheet with the completed parts identification section on back.
