REPAIRING THE THREADS ON THE QUARTER INCH BOLT
(30 points)
Bench grinder, 1/4" bolt, nut, die, die
stock, hacksaw, cutting oil, pliers
Directions:
1. Place the 1/4" bolt in the vice.
2. Remove the damaged portion of the bolt,
approximately 1/4".
3. Insert the die into the diestock and
secure.
4. Use the die stock and die to recondition
the damaged threads.
5. Turn in the following for grading
to one of the judges
a - this evaluation score sheet
b - your 1/4" bolt
c - the end you removed from the bolt
Note: the part which is beyond the dashed
line below should be removed with a hacksaw.
