Electronic
prosthetics are portable device and, as such, require the ability to
run on batteries. Unlike iPods and cell phones, when the battery of an
electronic prosthetic runs out, it can leave a person disabled or even
in danger. Our goal is to extend battery life by recharging
prosthetic batteries from power scavenged from the prosthetic user.
Prosthetic user may not have arms or legs to scavenge energy from so,
for this research, the only presumption is that the subject that energy
is being scavenged from is breathing and has body heat. |
