Attendance: You are allowed two absences without penalty. Of course, you will be responsible for any work missed during absences. Try to come to class on time. If you are late, enter quietly to minimize the disruption. Remember that it is your responsibility to sign the roll sheet if you are late, to avoid being counted absent. If you must be late or must leave early or don't have your work prepared for the class, please come to class anyway. Academic honesty: You are expected to do original work on your written assignments. Presenting someone else's ideas and words as your own - plagiarism - is a serious academic violation and can result in expulsion from the evening program and university. Civility statement: Because the class needs to be a participatory community if students are to fulfill their potential for learning, people who disrupt the community by their words or actions (rude, sarcastic, obscene, or disrespectful speech or disruptive behavior) will be asked to leave the class. In order to achieve our educational goals and to encourage the expression, testing, understanding, and creation of a variety of ideas and opinions, respect must be shown to everyone (Groccia, J., 2000). |
