What Is A Preview?
Follows the thesis statement in the first paragraph of the paper
The last sentence in the first paragraph
Indicates two or three arguments you will make in the paper
Shows how the arguments support the thesis statement by answering
"why?" the thesis is true. Often can be seen following the word "because"
Describes the arguments in the same order in which they are developed in the paper
May be revised after completing the paper to more accurately reflect the
arguments you finally develop
For Example:
Involvement in an on-campus organization, such as Greek Life, is beneficial in securing a job after graduation because expanding one's horizons beyond academic life gives evidence of a well-rounded person and demonstrates initiative and leadership qualities to a potential employer.
