If you don't know anyone who scrapbooks, the easiest way to get started is by getting in touch with a Creative Memories consultant. They give workshops and have all of the basic supplies. They are highly recommended for beginners!

Ready to get started? Great! One of the necessary evils of scrapbooking is getting supplies. The following is a list of the absolute basics. Click on the item to get more information on why you need it and where to find it:

An archival-quality album
Acid-free and lignin-free colored paper
Scissors
Acid-free pens
Acid-free tape or glue

Once you have all of your goodies, it can be hard to cut that first photo and write on that first page. JUST DO IT! Here are some tips to get going:

Get started with a friend.
Sign up for classes. Michaels, scrap stores and Creative Memories all offer classes.
Start simple. Don't try to make every page a work of art.
Setup a place at home where you can leave your mess out. Sometimes it is overwhelming to set everything up, do a few pages, and then put everything away. Set aside a desk in the office, bedroom, or even in a large closet where you can leave everything out.
Get ideas. A good idea can be a catalist to a great page.
