The above group of men congregated at the corner of South Main and East Summer
streets on December 8, 1896 in front of Paul's Grocery for a friendly visit. Someone suggested they have their pictures taken. It seemed a good
idea. They went up the steps to the second floor studio of Marion M. Berry where they were posed and shot.
They are, top row, left to right: Jim Martin, Joe Fry, Clay Hays, Fred Hardesty; second row; W.H. (Bill) Engle, Gentry Pierceall, George Hays, Frank Hagan;
bottom row: John Williams, Relia Hayden, Jeff Hays, Walter Hagan, Dave Fitzpatrick.
With the exception of Mr. Fry, all were born and reared in St. Stephen's parish. Joe Fry, Clay Hays, and Fred Hardesty have been neighbors for 50 years
and are "still speaking"
