The Mick Deaver Memorial AwardThe Mick Deaver Memorial award was established in 1980 by the Staff Advisory Council to honor a staff member (75%+FTE) who exemplifies Deaver’s concern for fostering good relations with students. Major Mick Deaver was the associate director of the University Police Department at the time of his death in 1980 in an automobile accident. The award which consists of a plaque and $1000 will be presented at the annual Staff Recognition Week awards ceremony. This award will be presented to the individual judged by the committee from the material submitted to best exemplify the major’s concern in fostering good relations with students. This could be demonstrated through helpfulness to students in adjusting to the University environment. Examples of extraordinary and genuine concern in behalf of student’s interests will be helpful in making a decision.
