Total Hours Required: 126 hours

In addition to the requirement of all degree requirements with a minimum GPA of 2.0 for all courses taken at MU, the College has established the following additional requirement for the BSME degree:

  • All candidates for the B.S. in Mechanical Engineering will be required to have a GPA of at least 2.0 based on all the courses with an Engineering designation (i.e., MAE, ENGR, IMSE, etc.). This requirement includes all equivalent engineering courses transferred from other campuses of the UM system.
  • All students are required to take two (2) Writing Intensive (WI) courses before they graduate.
  • ME students satisfy an economic requirement by taking IMSE 2710.

* A student receives 2 hours of advanced standing credit for Chem 1310 upon request by taking Chem 1320 and receiving a grade of 'C-' or better.  Typically, this extra credit fulfills the additional 2 hour requirement from free elective.
