Dr. Steven P. Neal (Project 12) Propagation of Wave Fields through Curved Surfaces without the Paraxial Assumption In order to understand the range of applicability of a number of our projects, we require calculation of the incident wave field, within a medium, as transmitted by a piston source transducer. Software has been written to make these calculations for transmission and reflection at multiple planar interfaces. The goal of this project is to solve the modeling problem and write the software for wave field calculations through curved interfaces. This work is being done in a particularly rigorous fashion without relying on the small angle assumption (the paraxial assumption). Research supported under:
