Please note that LANDIS 3.7 is 100% compatible with LANDIS 3.6 (most commonly used version currently). LANDIS development is evolving. LANDIS 4.0, a fully modularized version with new fire, fuel and fuel management, and biological disturbance (insect and disease) modules, will be available in 2004. LANDIS II, redesigned with new software technology and with a biomass module will be available in 2005. The current versions (LANDIS 3.6 and LANDIS 3.7) have gone through considerable testing. However, it is highly likely that users will discover bugs that arise under conditions that we did not test (please report all bugs to Dr. Hong S. He, heh@missouri.edu). We anticipate correcting bugs periodically within the same revision with higher decimal version numbers (e.g. LANDIS 3.8). Substantial changes to the software, primarily associated with the addition of new features (e.g., new modules), will be released as a new version number (e.g., LANDIS 4.0). Again, all changes associated with each release will be documented in the release notes.
