LANDIS 5.0 PRO

  

To mitigate the bottleneck effect of computing capacity, LANDIS 5.0 PRO uses innovative data structures and computer algorithms to store and access model data and variables. Therefore, it uses less computer memory to simulate regional forest dynamics with less sacrificing computing speed. In addition, LANDIS 5.0 PRO preserves the ecological design of LANDIS 4.0 model.

 

New features

 

·         It can simulate large map sizes of 100 million cells.

·         Stand number is supported in LANDIS 5.0 PRO can be larger than 216 in ASCII format of  

 ArcGIS.

·         100% compatible to LANDIS 4.0, and no need to change any parameter in LANDIS 4.0 input files.

·         To optimize the simulation, the longevity of species is limited within 320 years.

Spatial Scale

 

     The spatial scales of LANDIS 5.0 PRO are within 103 – 1014 ha, depending on the simulation cell size, and LANDIS 5.0 PRO is capable of simulating forest succession at cell sizes ranging from 10 to 500 m.
