Esera Tuaolo: Former NFL Athlete

After playing 9 seasons in the National Football League, Esera came out on national television and told the world that he is gay. Esera's personal story is a powerful and rare tale of coming face to face with who you really are and coming to terms with yourself and the world around you. Social Justice Film Series: Further Off the Straight and Narrow

Against the backdrop of political and social issues affecting Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) community such as gay marriage and AIDS, this program takes a close look at sitcoms, reality shows, and premium cable programming between 1998 and 2006. The program raises questions about how this queer presence on television is shaped by the imperatives of the commercial media system and driven, in part, by advertisers targeting GLBT consumers. (Length: 61 minutes)
