Transgender

Definition

Transgender is an umbrella term that encompasses any person who varies from Western society's binary conventions of gender and sex. Examples include a range of identities, but are not limited to: transsexual and intersexual people, cross dressers, gender queers, and drag queens and kings. It is important to note that people must self-identify as" transgender" in order for the term to be appropriately used to describe them.

Fluidity
Fluidity is a support group for transgender and questioning students at Mizzou. The format varies (video, guest speakers, rap session, pot luck) based on the needs of the people in the group. All persons in the transgender spectrum are welcome. Trans staff/faculty are also welcome to visit and lend their support. Who attends the meetings and what is said in the meetings, stays in the meetings.

The TransAction Team was created by Dr. Heather Eastman-Mueller, a Health Promotion Professional at the Student Health Center of MU, and former LGBTQ Resource Center Coordinator John Elizabeth Faughn in the Spring of 2008.
