NANKAI TROUGH SEISMOGENIC ZONE EXPERIMENT
NanTroSEIZE is a multi-year, multi-stage Complex Drilling Project that has been designed to intersect the seismogenic plate boundary of Nankai Trough. Mike Underwood is a core member of the NanTroSEIZE Project Management Team and Specialty Coordinator for lithostratigraphy and sedimentary petrology. He recently sailed as a shipboard scientist during two of the Stage-1 coring expeditions. Drilling activities began during September 2007, and the project will probably occupy most of Underwood's time until the age of retirement.
