The Effect of Relocation
and Cultural Acceptance on the Perception of Career Advancement of Black
Natural Resources Professionals
Abstract:
The purpose of this study
is to determine the relationship between Black minority participation and
career choices in natural resources. This
research focuses on the effect of Relocation and Cultural Acceptance on the
perception of Career Advancement of Black Natural Resources Professionals
(BNRP) through preliminary discussions, reviewing public records and
peer-reviewed literature, and conducting an online survey of BNRP.
Life Styles: involves the way people move about in their
territory, the undertakings as individuals adjust to the success or
hardships of life. Includes
in-migration and out-migration, work ethnics and education of people who
live throughout the
Forest Service (FS), and United States
Department of Interior, (USDI), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service, (FWS) employs these professionals. .
This research will use an
online survey as a tool to distribute to BNRP working for BLM, FWS and FS
agencies at the GS-5 through GS-15 pay level to ascertain how participants
believed Relocation and Cultural Acceptance had an effect on their careers
advancement. Examining these indicators
may explain why only a small number of BNRP advance to higher positions in USDA
and USDI within natural resources.
