published by McGraw-Hill/Irwin

This text is considered a "standard" in the rapidly growing area of governmental and nonprofit entities. The 15th edition, released in March 2009, has been extensively revised to enhance learning of the complex GASBS 34 financial reporting model applicable to state and local governments. Also, it provides up-to-date coverage of accounting and financial reporting of many other types of entities, including the federal government, colleges and universities, health care entities, and not-for-profit organizations. Additional chapters cover such topics as auditing of governmental and not-for-profit organizations, budgeting and cost accounting, and financial analysis of state and local governments. The auditing chapter incorporates the latest guidance from the AICPA's Accounting and Auditing Guides and the GAO's revised "Yellow Book." The financial analysis chapter incorporates financial performance measures that utilize government -wide information provided by GASBS 34 financial statements.

An excellent Instructor's Edition of the Website for the book (http://highered.mcgraw -hill.com/sites/0073379603) provides an Instructors' Guide/Solution Manual, PowerPoint lectures, a computerized EZ-test bank, and the Instructor software for the City of Smithville/City of Bingham computerized cumulative problems, along with solutions data files and page image files for both city projects.
